Fifty-Two New VEF Fellows to Top U.S. Universities (Based on our enabling legislation and the impending closure of VEF in 2018, VEF is no longer offering any Fellowships or Grants)

July 2, 2005--VEF introduced its new cohort of 52 Fellows who will go to the U.S. to begin their graduate study at 24 top universities in Fall 2005.
These 52 VEF fellows will be attending graduate schools in the fields of computer science, engineering (electrical, environmental, civil, mechanical and chemical), agriculture sciences, physics, biological sciences, public health, mathematics, and materials science.
These Fellows will be attending the University of California at Berkeley, Johns Hopkins University, the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign, Duke University, theUniversity of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, the University of Texas at Austin and others. (See the full list of schools below.)
The Fellows will be jointly supported by VEF and their universities through a special arrangement called the VEF Alliance. More than 100 top, research universities have joined the Alliance to welcome and co-support VEF Fellows throughout their graduate study.
With this new cohort, VEF will have a total of 150 Fellows at 44 schools.
"We are extremely proud of this class of VEF Fellows. They are the most competitive and qualified Vietnamese scholars and will have a great professional career. We look to them as future leaders in science and education in Vietnam" said Kien Pham, VEF's Executive Director.
The Fellows will start departing for the U.S after a pre-departure orientation seminar in Ho Chi Minh City and a special leadership/team-building program in Dalat this week.
