Press Release: Pre-Departure Orientation of the 2013 Cohort and 5th Alumni Conference (Based on our enabling legislation and the impending closure of VEF in 2018, VEF is no longer offering any Fellowships or Grants)

Hanoi, June 4, 2013 – The Vietnam Education Foundation (VEF), an independent U.S. Federal Government agency, is pleased to announce that 47 new Fellows will begin graduate studies and 4 new Visiting Scholars will undertake professional development programs at 32 leading universities in the United States (see the list below) during the upcoming academic year 2013-2014. The VEF Fellowship Program and the VEF Visiting Scholar Program are two of the outstanding educational programs offered by VEF in its efforts to build the relationship between Vietnam and the United States through educational exchange and capacity building. To prepare the new Fellows and Visiting Scholars for their transition to the United States, VEF provides a comprehensive Pre-Departure Orientation (PDO) program to be held this year from June 9-14, 2013, in Nha Trang city, Khanh Hoa province, Vietnam. On this occasion, VEF is also pleased to announce that the 5th VEF Alumni Conference, whose theme is VEF Alumni: Giving Back to Vietnam, will be held from June 14-16, 2013 in collaboration with Nha Trang University. VEF began operations in 2003 and the year 2013 marks its 10th anniversary. The PDO and the 5th Alumni Conference are parts of the events in the year that celebrate this important milestone in the history of VEF.
