Bringing the United States and Vietnam Closer Together through Educational Exchange

From May 7-27, 2006, VEF is sponsoring two U.S. assessment teams to travel to Vietnam within the framework of a three-year Quality Assessment Initiative for computer science, electrical engineering, and physics at four select Vietnamese universities.

The goal of this assessment is to better understand how new models and approaches to undergraduate education can contribute to increased teaching effectiveness in the sciences, engineering, and technology in Vietnam. The Quality Assessment Initiative's purpose is four-fold: (a) to assess the effectiveness of undergraduate education in Vietnam in the fields of computer science, electrical engineering, and physics; (b) to develop recommendations for improving undergraduate education in these fields; (c) to assist the Vietnamese in implementing changes that will lead to more effective education; (d) to use this experience to formulate an educational assessment model that can be applied in other fields in undergraduate education in the sciences and engineering.
