Dr. Nguyen, Phuc Anh Lan (Houston, Texas). Dr. Anhlan Nguyen believes the future is in the hands of the young. Her accomplishments include the establishment of the Vietnamese Youth Center of Toronto, Canada, the National Youth Leadership Development Camp "Len Duong" for young community activists from across the United States and Canada, and the hosting of numerous community programs aimed at helping and assisting in the development of Vietnamese-American youth. She was also the organizer of the "Thank You, America" luncheon honoring local charities that help Vietnamese refugees relocate and become acclimated in their new homeland. Dr. Nguyen's passion has inspired her to lead numerous humanitarian efforts on behalf of hurricane and flood victims in Central America and in Vietnam.

Dr. Nguyen served as president of the VCSA (Vietnamese Culture and Science Association) for two consecutive terms 1999 - 2001 and 2001 - 2004, and currently serves as the Chair of the Board of Directors of VCSA ( She was selected as one of the Five Outstanding Young Houstonians by Houston JAYCEE (Junior Chamber of Commerce) in 2000 and was the Honoree of the Asian-American Heritage Month of 2001 by Houston METRO Transit Authority. In 2004, she was awarded the Outstanding Community Leader Award by the Youth Leadership Council. In 2006, she was honored by the Bank of America as the recipient of the "Local Hero" Award for her tireless dedication in supporting the Katrina evacuees in Houston. In 2010, she was selected as one of the "Top 25 Women of Houston" by the Steed Society and the Commercial Bank for her outstanding leadership and community involvement. In 2011, she received the "Women's Leadership Empowerment" Award by the Texas Women's Empowerment Foundation.

Dr. Nguyen currently works at the University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center as an IT Portfolio Manager. She also has served on the Advisory Board, Compliance Assistance Committee, the National Advisory Council for Environment Protection Policy and Technology, the Resource Development Chair of the Board of Directors of the Southeast Asian Resource Action Center (SEARAC), the only national non-profit organization advocating for Southeast Asian Americans, and she is a former member of the Board of Directors of the National Alliance of Vietnamese American Social Agencies (NAVASA). In the City of Houston, she has served on the Advisory Board of the Mayor's International Affairs & Development Council/ Asia & Australia and is also a former member of the Executive Board of the Houston Communities for Safe Indoor Air (HCSIA), a coalition of five communities of color that include Asian Americans, Hispanic Americans, African Americans, and Native Americans.

Dr. Nguyen graduated Summa-Cum-Laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science in 1989 and received a Master's in Computer Science from the University of Toronto, Canada, in 1993. She attained her DBA in Business Administration specialized in Project Management from Northcentral University in 2015. She relocated to Houston, Texas in 1994, and became U.S. citizen in 2000. Having served as a Scout Master in the past, she has always been a community leader who works tirelessly for youth development programs.
